Pros about the design
- The Schools name represents the masthead which is easy to read and recognisable with the schools slogan under the masthead.
- The layout is very formal. With the schools colours of blue and white for the colour scheme making the front cover suitable for the school's purpose. The use of a left head, can present the necessary information about to be presented in the magazine, without giving away to much detail about the stories.
- The positioning of images helps to present some of the aspects the school has to offer as well as giving some colour and a positive view towards the readers.
- The use of different shapes improves the front cover by making it unique.
Cons about the design
- The masthead could of been improved, with a name that could of really pulled in the target audience. The use of just the schools name and slogan just brands the magazine, not the masthead.
Pros about the design
- The masthead is original with its own slogan. Lockers are a commonly used storage product in schools which students may use to store work, personal items or other peoples properties. Magazines are used to deliver stories and information as a source of media, for readers to enjoy. When I put one and two together, the masthead was the result. The slogan helps to grab the readers attention. Making them to wonder, whats inside the magazine.
- The logo and the schools name has been given a slick redesign put still has the same colour scheme and the schools branded images of swans. This helps to tell the reader that this magazine was created by the Misbourne School and is branded by them. It also shows the readers that what the magazine is about, is of Misbourne material.
- The left head is similar to the last design,
- The layout of images is more creative with one image in front of the other. Used for style and formality.
- In the top right, the date and the number of the magazine can be set. So readers know when the magazine came out and what issue there into.
Cons about the design
- The price will not be include in the final product as schools don't sell magazines or prospectuses to the students of the school.
- The use of more colours, maybe red, could help to add more of a vibe to the magazine. Making it more appealing for students. But still keeping it formal so parents will like as well.
I will be using the second front cover design to model around for my final product. I choice this one because of its slick and unique layout and original masthead. I also believe that this layout and design would best appeal to both younger and older readers.
